Even someone living in a cave grasps the questionable reputation of Vallejo, a city
“which has taken more than its share of abuse, ridicule and criticism,” said community
theater activist Monica Tipton. “Unfortunately, a great deal of that has been dished out
by Vallejoans themselves.”
And that’s why Tipton, a Mira Theatre Guild board member, nominated volunteer
David Cates for the Jefferson Award, a community service acknowledgment by KPIXTV
in San Francisco.
